Last week, I had the pleasure of taking a trip to Tamarindo, Costa Rica. We flew into Liberia and had a car from our hotel pick us up and take us to Tamarindo.
Hotel: We stayed at the Calaluna Boutique Hotel & Villas. This hotel is absolutely beautiful. It has private beach access, a pool, restaurant and bar, free breakfast, and is very close to town. You can also book tours and excursions through the hotel. This hotel has a calm and quiet atmosphere and would be a perfect honey moon spot.I was obessed with the shower/bathtub in our room!
Beaches: The Calauna has access to a private beach with plenty of chairs and hammocks in the sand. Watching the sunset at this beach was breathtaking! My only complaint was that the beach was a little rocky, making it hard to get in the water. We also spent a day at Playa Taramindo which was in town. This beach was gorgeous and had smooth sand and clear water.
Playa TamarindoFood: The food options in Costa Rica were amazing. The friend I travelled with is vegan, and almost every restaurant we went to had vegan options. Even the restaurant in our hotel offered plenty of vegan options and authentic Costa Rican dishes. Most restaurants offered lots of fresh foods and seafood options. My favorite restaurant was the Pico Bistro in town on the beach. I had a delicious chicken bowl and a mango pineapple smoothie. It was delicious!
Pico BistroGreen PapayaRincón de la Veja National Park: Since we were only in Costa Rica for a short trip, we only did one excursion. We decided to book a tour of Rincón de la Veja National Park. This included a hike near the volcano, a shorter hike to a waterfall, and time at the hot springs. My favorite part was the hot springs! The hot springs featured six different hot pools you could go into and had tubs of volcanic mud available to put on your body after spending time in the hot springs. After allowing the mud to dry, showers are availabe to rinse off. My skin felt so soft after!I had a fabulous time in Costa Rica! I hope to go again and visit a different city. If you have been to Costa Rica and have any recommendations for my next trip please let me know!
